A discussion came up today on a Yahoo Group I follow (Linuxham) asking for suggestions for a Linux based software to use with Winlink. As you might know, Winlink interfaces amateur radio with Internet email, is Windows based, and the designers have resisted all efforts to produce compatible software for non-Windows operating systems.
One of the respondents made the statement that, “anybody interested in EMCOM should skip WinLink altogether, and utilize NBEMS instead.” He presented a link to an article that detailed how Emergency Communications have changed in the past several years. While you might not agree with everything stated in the article, it is an interesting article and does make a good point. Check it out at and see what you think.
